Boundary Bay Quilters' Guild Activities & News

BBQG Boutique
The BBQG Boutique table is available for guild members (singly or sharing with friends) to sell fabrics and/or any items related to quilting and sewing at guild meetings. Table rental is $10 for members, $25 for businesses.

As a Guild, this year we have made over 50 quilts to give to various organizations that have expressed a need, and kits are still available at the Library area at the next meeting. Kits are not a requirement – make your own, no bigger than 42” x 42” and bring to any meeting.

Charity Quilts:
Our guild is proudly supporting the Rotary Women’s Club by creating charity baby quilts. The member created quilts form part of a baby bundle which is provided to babies in need around the lower mainland. We will be having a baby quilt challenge as well as kits for members to sew and bring back.

Welcome back to another year with the Boundary Bay Quilters Guild.  We have lots of fun events and workshops planned for the coming months.  If you have suggestions for workshops or speakers, please let us know at the meetings or send us an e-mail.

Note: All Guild workshops are held in the Sacred Heart Clubhouse, just down the driveway from the gym where we have our regular meetings. Workshops usually begin at 10 am and end at about 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

BBQG Fun and NEW:

Quilting Outside the Box

The new art quilt group, tentatively name “The Mixed Maniacs” will have it’s first regular meeting on Sept 20th.  Anyone wishing to explore mixed media in a journal quilt format is invited to join.  We are asking for a one year commitment from potential members, as well as a willingness to explore quilting “outside the box”. For more info, please contact our Vice President, Pat Nelson at patnelson@dccnet.com or (604) 594 4517.

Finally Finished Fun(d)

Are you working on a quilt or planning to make a quilt that must be completed before our June meeting? This could be your chance to win some fabric shopping money for next summer!

For every quilt that is completed and registered, and been shown at “Show and Tell” you pay $2 ($1 for a baby quilt) into the kitty.

The prize money will be divided into $100 increments and the winners picked at the June meeting. One of the north shore Guilds had over $300 in the pot for prizes. This will be fun. We’ll have great show and tell as we finish as many quilts as we can to get them into the draw.

Registration forms will be available in September.   Please note that this is optional and open to guild members only.
